Bataan | Westnuk Beach Resort: Morong's Hidden Paradise

Westnuk Beach Resort
Westnuk Beach Resort, Morong, Bataan
Hidden in a cove along the coastline of Morong, Bataan is a place I can call a paradise, Westnuk Beach Resort. It is located west of the Bataan Nuclear Power Plant (hence its name 'Westnuk'), inside a government complex managed by the National Power Corporation (NAPOCOR). Originally a private resort (some say you can only book at Westnuk before if you know someone from inside NAPOCOR), Westnuk is now open to the general public.

4th Philippine International Pyromusical Competition | The Closing Night

4th Philippine International Pyromusical Competition
4th Philippine International Pyromusical Competition

Last Saturday (March 23) was the final night of the 4th Philippine International Pyromusical Competition, a six-week event showcasing spectacular fireworks display from various participating countries. Just like in the opening night, I went to MOA (Mall of Asia) as early as 5PM. But early as I am, more spectators were still ahead of me. Luckily, I still found a good place in the breakwater, almost in front of the barge where the fireworks display will be shown.

2013 Hot Air Balloon Festival: The Lost (and Found) Memory

Hot Air Balloon Festival - Night Glow

I've watched the hot air balloon fiesta with my friend last 2012 so I'm pretty much sure he won't go with me to this year's hot air balloon festival. But to my surprise, he gave in to my whims and accompany me to Clark again. (Yey, thank you BFF! ^_^) But it wasn't the balloon flight that I'm after though. I was looking forward for the night glow and the closing fireworks display; then food trip afterwards.

4th Philippine International Pyromusical Competition | Japan vs. Finland

2013 Pyromusical Competition

It's been four years since the first international pyromusical competion was held here in the Philippines, and every year since then, it has been held here. But it's only this year that I was able to watch this spectacular fireworks display as the 4th Philippine International Pyromusical Competition officially opened two Saturdays ago, February 16.  Of the eleven countries (12 including the Philippines, for closing exhibition only) participating on this annual event, Japan and Finland were the first two countries to showcase their pyrotechnic expertise.

Food Trip: Muchas Gracias' Creamy Halo-halo

Muchas Gracias - San Fernando City, La Union

What's the best way to refresh after being exposed to sun's scorching heat? Going swimming is one but what if you don't have time for that? Then having some coolers, like halo-halo, will do; and that's what we did after our noon-time visit to Pindangan Ruins.

We were supposed to try halo halo from Halo-halo de Iloko but the trike driver mistakenly brought us here at Muchas Gracias instead. Outside, I was wondering if Halo-halo de Iloko changed their name. I've seen several photos of the resto when I was browsing the internet so I knew this wasn't the one I'm looking for. But instead of asking the driver to bring us to Halo-halo de Iloko, we decided to try Muchas Gracias; it does have halo halo too, anyway. Later, I found out from the owner/manager (I assume the lady manning the cash register is the owner/manager) that Halo-halo de Iloko used to be situated here and that she's a former part-owner of the said resto, may be that's why the trike driver brought us here. ;)
